Kris

Kris, a friend of ours was in a terrible accident a week ago. His wife Natalie is my business partner and great friend. He fractured his neck that caused spinal cord injury. He has spent the past week at UMC trauma and will be flown out tomorrow to a rehab hospital in Denver, Co. It has been an emotional week, and only because he is doing so well, I'm posting the following. Natalie and I figured humor is great therapy. These are a few of Kris's conversations while on the crazy drug Adavan.

Kris – “Hey Nat, are we taking Toto to dinner with us?”
When he was about to get a breathing treatment, he asks the therapist, “Are you going to do that breathing treatment with water or with coke?”  She said, “neither, Albuterol … we don’t use coke or water”! He looked a little confused.
Kris to Natalie – “It’s OK that you’re here?”  Me- “What do you mean?”  K – "I mean, you don’t have to report to mayonnaise at any particular time?”
Kris – “Hey Nat, are we out at sea?” Nat – “No” K- “Are we supposed to be?”
Kris – “Nat, come here” … (Nat goes up and looks at him waiting for him to tell her what he wants)  Kris- “What the hell are you looking at?”
Kris – “Nat, come here, do you have one of those outfits? (Gesturing towards the 3 nurses who just tied him down) … N – “You mean the scrubs?” K – “No, the Knight Rider Ranger outfits they have on, you need to get one!”
Kris – “This hotel sucks, I’m filing a complaint”!
(Ya Kris, I'm sure you'll get a lot out of filing a complaint, maybe a comp'd sponge bath!)
K – “Am I having surgery here or in LA?” Natalie – “Here honey.”  K- “OH God, this place is a dump!”

My TINY snobby side

I took my kids to St. George to visit my parents. We went to Pine Valley to have a picnic and play around. If you know me well, you know I am far from a mountain/camping girl. I'd much rather be at the beach.  I was being a good sport and I actually started to have fun but then the excitement died after we visited the bathrooms. I cannot figure out how people enjoy camping. You sit in dirt, bat flies all day, and crap in a hole. Really, this is fun? Plus, didn't you ever see the movie "Watcher's in the Woods?" Ummm, that says enough. My Dad and I sat there people watching for a bit.
We decided the criteria to be a camper is:
1. Men must wear a wife beater tank top or go shirtless with your belly hanging out
2. Have a wife that wears shorts that she wore pre-child bearing days (that she shouldn't be wearing)
3. Your wife must have a truck driver mouth
4. A Mallord camper for bumping and for the men to sleep in (a tent for the women)
5. A baby in a bouncer crying or crawling around in dirt
6. Minimum of 6 bumper stickers on your truck about Nascar, Mama jokes or some other white trash joke.
7. Enough potato chips & hot dogs to eat, and beer to drink all day long. (since that's the only thing to do all day is EAT!)

(Yes I have sandals on and Dylin has her Uggs... we weren't very prepared)

Now if I were staying in one of these two homes.... you'll see me on the mountain ;o)

Day with Nana

Dylin - "Nana do you have a fountain I can throw these pennies in to make a wish?"
Nana - "No."
Dylin - "Can I have a cup or something to throw the pennies in?"
(5 min. later)
Dylin - "Nana, my wish didn't come true!"
Nana - "What did you wish for?"
Dylin - "To be 19 and a rockstar!"

A time to be grateful

Through all my trials and pain, when the sweet Lord realizes I can bare no more. The one thing I pray for (if i'm ever granted a break), please keep Dylin healthy. Today was the day 1 of her 6 month routine testing. After 2 hours of going over and over Dylin's current condition regarding her Polycycstic Kidney Disease, her nephrologist said, "Dylin you've blown me away since you were born and again today, I'm blown away!" "Go back to school healthy girl and we'll see you in 6 months, no need for anymore blood tests, scans, or ultrasounds at this time." Her PKD is progressing, and sadly decisions are based simply on they can not do anything when there isn't a cure. But, her blood pressure is stable, her organ function is great and she doesn't have any signs that it's affected her heart or causing brain aneurysms....
so we'll take the good word and we're back at school!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Shoot me, yes I'm PTA President. Actually I swear it's not that hard. No one believes me. Just gotta be a great delegator. Yep, that's me! My theory... I could care less to receive the praise, if there are people to help, put 'em to work! ;o)
In a matter of three weeks we've had field day, Spring Carnival & Teacher Appreciation week. Many of you asked to see pictures of our fabulous week we had for our teacher. It started off with this poem sent out the week before. Our theme was "You're a Star!"

PTA would like to give you a sneak peek...
of your upcoming Teacher/Staff Appreciation week!
We invite you Monday morning for our red carpet premiere...
be ready for the paparazzi and your fans to cheer!
A Tropical Smoothie for our celebrities to start off the day...
then come to lunch for a "crazy chicken" buffet!
On Tuesday, our stars will be treated with pastries, breads, coffee & more...
so go to your green room for a breakfast galore!
Wednesday we'll be "In N Out" througout your day...
making our stars feel fabulous in every way!
A concession stand awaits on Thursday, to fill up with goodies to eat...
so when our stars go to the movies, your experience will be complete!
On Friday, the Director will be closing the set on your glamorous week...
an Italian lunch will wrap up your celebrity streak!

We decorated the halls with film strips, each staff member had their own "walk of fame star," and made directors boards, megaphone and movie reels to hang in every pod, office & the teachers green room (lounge).

We started off Monday morning with a red carpet event. Fans (students) asked for the teachers autographs, parents were paparazzi taking pictures. We played "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga and handed them their smoothie as they entered the school.

Their other gifts during the week was a popcorn bucket with soda, candy and a movie ticket in it. We also purchased a stereo/Ipod station for their "green room."

Busy Busy Busy

I haven't blogged in nearly a month. The next couple entries are just a few things we've been up to. Mainly been busy with our cute little Macy. ;o)

Busy being smart... (not me)... Tyler!

Tyler participated in the Battle of the Books & Jr. Varsity Quiz. His team had to read 8 novels and then have a jeopardy style game against other teams. They came in 4th place.
Ok so the funny thing is, I think I was the only parent there that didn't read the books in order to help their child study. Who does that? Apparently, everyone except me!
Varsity Quiz is where ridiculously smart kids go head to head against other schools and answer random questions to things we'd never need to know.
Jordyn said, "Why in the world do we need to know this stuff that they're talking about?"
 I'm right with you Jordyn!!!
Where did this kid come from? Certainly not from me???
Good job Tyler!!

Voted weirdest front yard....

absolutely random, but couldn't pass up sharing the great turquoise stone with you.

Jordyn's 1st season in soccer...

Busy with Little League board & Tyler...

Tyler struck out 13 of 17 batters during one of his recent games!

BTW, if the tongue isn't hanging out, it's not Tyler! ;op

Tyler at Dodger vs. Reds game

Tip for Ty & friends: When you're going to meet the players at a Dodger game, try not to wear your Yankee gear! That's why you got a thumbs down from Matt Kemp.

Field Day

Easter

Tyler spotted an egg, but then stopped! No, it wasn't alive... it was fried crisp in the sun. what kind of Easter bunny plays such a nasty trick?

Busy with Girls...

Playing with friends!

We made a music video to Party in the USA....
trying to post the final project but we have a few parents not wanting their child rocking out on Youtube.
Oh come on Mom & Dad!
