Country in the Car

We have a new game we play in the car.
Guess what the country song will be about.
Their breakup? Their dog? Their tractor? Their cowboy boots?....
First Song? No one won! Who would have thought to guess it would be about, "a birthday cake that burned, the smoke detectors went off and the little girl cried!"
WTH?
Dylin said it best, "We are only listening to this station during the game, that was straight weird!"

Dylin's Update

Great reason to break the no sugar diet! Dylin's Polycystic Kidney Disease causes major heart valve problems.... Last summer, her cardiologist saw the first signs of those issues. They aren't reversable, they continue to get worse. Today, he couldn't find one single sign of the same issues as last summer!!! She continues to be our miracle child. Dylin, you clearly amaze me! I love you to pieces and thank you to God for the prayers he continues to answer! :)

Daily Dose of Dylin

Dylin: "Mom, before I tell you what I did wrong, let me tell you how to react... Just think "I'm disappointed in my daughter" but don't actually say anything out loud to me. ok?"

(last week)
If your kids go to school with mine... you'll be relieved to know my daughter asked in her morning prayers to help her not get in any fights today.

Daily Dose of Dylin

dylin on crazy hair day
p.s. craft paint doesn't come out of hair, unless you buy the WASHABLE kind

Time to catch up on a few from Dylin. She's the one that makes your mouth drop, and you can't help but laugh. The things she comes up with .... is down right shocking for a 7 year old!

Dylin: "Mom, I'm never stripping in front of anyone!"
(so glad we had this talk)

Dylin: "Mom why can't I use my money in my bank account? You say it's for savings... Well I saved and now I want to spend!"
Me: - "Because you need to save it for emergencies! What if I didn't save and our refrigerator broke and then we couldn't buy a new one, what would we do about food?
Dyl - "Well that would be something I need to worry about in 20 years, I'll save later for that, so try again MOM!"

Tyler: "What is your dream job?"
Dylin: "To be a cop, so I can taser people whenever I want."
(we will definitely be going to church today)

My little Kickers

We had a great season. Jordyn is up to 7 goals and Dylin 4!

Jordyn is so pretty, even when she should look sweaty & gross.
Dylin not only scored her first goal ever, but she scored two that game!

A Reason to Celebrate

Dylin was born with Polycystic Kidney Disease. She has been the miracle child, unaffected by this horrible disease so far. But 2 years ago this month, Dylin became very ill. We thought it must have been from her kidneys, but it wasn't. We were now looking into what could be an entire new disease, in her blood! Dylin spent 3 months in and out of the hospital and saw countless doctors. After numerous tests and 5 specialists that could not agree on her diagnosis.... I took matters in my own hands! It was midnight on a Friday night and I searched on UCLA's website for the pediatric hematology group. As I looked over pages of doctors’ names, I prayed I'd know which one to email and hopefully grab their attention. As any mother would, I chose the lead Chief of Staff for the Hematology group. I wasn't playing around! I sent a brief email and attached Dylin's numerous lab & radiology reports. TEN hours later, we received a call from UCLA asking if we could be there Monday morning. They had never seen a PT/PTT (blood clotting ratio) count so high before in a child. I thought my heart was going to stop. You never want to hear news like that from a world renowned medical center. Dylin and I flew there on Monday morning and after 12 vials of blood drawn, we had a meeting with 5 members from the hematology group, including the head doctor I emailed. Dylin was diagnosed in 24 hours. She has a lupus variable in her blood that makes it hard for her blood to clot. It affects her liver, which was the first sign we had that there was something wrong. As much as you don't want to hear Lupus or that she now has two incurable diseases, it was a relief to have answers. The good news that was presented, but not promised because Dylin was so young, was that UCLA had seen children grow out of it as their blood "got older." For the past two years, we've watched carefully of accidents and tested her blood every 3-6 months. Last week, Dylin saw the hematology group in Vegas to check her blood count. We've been told that if we didn't see the numbers lowering by the time she was around 6 and 7 years old, the disease would probably not go away. Last night, I received a quiet phone call from Dylin's doctor. When I heard a crackling voice on the other end, my heart sank. His voice was crackling because he was choked up with joy to tell me Dylin's numbers didn't just decrease but that they stabilized to where they should be; just like any other child!

We still have a long tough road ahead with Dylin's kidney disease but as for today, we are celebrating that our little Rock Star's battle for life has paid off!!

In honor of Dylin’s amazing news, our good friends at Golden Spoon would like to host a “Dylin Night.” A portion of all sales on THIS Thursday, March 24th, at the Eastern/Sienna Heights location will be donated to The Dylin Cenname Medical Fund. As of today our family has raised & donated over $125,000.00 in funds for research, to find a cure for PKD.

Dylin & her family will be at Golden Spoon from 5:30-8:30pm. You may also support her by purchasing frozen yogurt anytime during business hours and mention you are there for Dylin!

Thank you for your ongoing love & support!

Dylin's party @ Golden Spoon to celebrate her good news! Thank you to all of our friends who came to support us and thank you to Golden Spoon for your donation!

Show n Tell.... Dylin style

Can't just bring the hampster.... She has to bring his toilet too.

Valentines Day 2011

Every year, the kids wake up to heart pancakes, fruit and gifts.
Sweetest story.... Tyler and his friends unravelled a baseball. Dylin had collected all the string inside (without any of us seeing) and saved it for Jordyn. She gave it to her Valentines morning and said, "This string is for you to sew with, since I know how much you love to sew." awwwwwe.

Jordyn had to bring a home made Valentine box. Hello??!!! Did you think we were just going to bring a shoe box? Haha Big Ha. We can't be simple about anything. LOVE THIS!!!

Who Does That???

Who buys there grandaughter handcuffs like this for pretend play??
:o) Hahahahaha.

"It's out of order"

It's 4am.
Dylin's in my bed.
Tyler comes in.
Tyler starts throwing up.
I help him. Get him in bed.
Scoop up Dylin to put her back in her bed.
She yells, "STOP, what are you doing?!!!"
"Dyl, Tyler is sick, you need to go back in your bed."
"No way, it's out of order!"
 "Huh?"
"I said, it's out of order!!"
"Like you mean, a mess?"
"No, it's out of order, like you can't use it!"
"Dylin, Tyler is sick, you have to go there!"
I continue to carry her in there.
To find this on her door.

she was serious!
She then of course follows it up with,
"and since you are making it IN ORDER, you are making my bed in the morning!"
WHO IS THIS CONTROVERSIAL AT 4AM!!!!???

Daily Dose of Dylin

Dyl - "when will the world end?"
Me - "when Christ comes again."
Dyl - "I wanted Jesus to come instead!"

(looks like I know what we need to have a little lesson about) ;o)

Sponge Bob and the Second Coming...

Dyl - Mom, what will it be like when we go to heaven? I want a body. Not be a ghost.
Me - Dyl, we aren't going to be like Casper, you'll look like yourself.
Dyl - Well on Sponge Bob, there was a dead pirate and he came back to life and re-grew his beard and he went places but he was still a spirit.
Me - how did he die?
Dyl - ummm maybe like a heart attack or something?!
Me - Dyl, what does that have to do with the second coming?
Dyl - well I wanna make sure we aren't going to be like creepy ghosts that can go dig for treasures under the sea and grow beards!

She seriously is the reason I live!!!! :o)

Announcing Dylin's Be Kind Shirts!!!

We are excited to announce Dylin's very own Be Kind Shirts.
If you aren't familiar with the Be Kind shirts and what they're all about, I strongly urge you to check out http://www.joshstevensfoundation.com/

One month before Josh’s 13th birthday, he lost his life in tragic accident. His time on Earth was much too short, but his kind heart and spirit will live forever. Josh was known for his unique brand of kindness. His legacy continues to inspire. The Josh Stevens Foundation was created to honor his life and the example he set for us all to follow.

The Josh Stevens Foundation and Dylin's Foundation have joined together to bring awareness to the Be Kind campaign and Polycystic Kidney Disease. Profits from shirt sales will be shared between the two foundations.

When thinking of a slogan for Dylin's shirts, I explained to her what we were doing and asked her what she wanted it to say. (on the front of the shirts they all say Be Kind, and the back's have different sayings on them).Without a moments hesitation Dylin said, "What about, Rock On! Because I Rock On after all my blood tests and other testing." I had chills through my body, and knew this was perfect!!!
She also told me down to the detail of what she wanted her logo to look like. With Dylin's requests, this is what I sketched. The entire project was exciting for the both of us and we are happy to share this with you!

This logo and Josh's logo are both on the back of the shirts as well!

Daily DoseS of Dylin....

Oh mighty child of mine.... I have been trying to keep track of her "mouth" lately. Hopefully I can describe just how funny and creative she is!

Dyl - "I'm thinking about how I want to make a difference in the world."
Me - "Oh really and how do u plan on that?"
Dyl - "I dont know."
Me - "Well how about you be a good example to others by acting nice."
Dyl - "Well that's not going to work, I'm on Christmas break from school."
Me - "Dyl you can be nice at home, friends houses, other places, not just at school!"
Dyl - "Naaaa, I'll have to choose something else."

Dyl - "How many minutes do I stay in time out?
Me - "6 minutes cuz your 6!"
Dyl - "Well than wouldn't that be 6 1/2 minutes since I'm 6 1/2, duh?!"

Dyl - "Mom I need cinnamon."
Me - "Ok I'll come get it in a minute."
Dyl - "I can't wait, I'll get it myself!"
Me - "No you won't cuz robins cookies are on the counter."
Dyl - "Mom, helllooooo be a problem solver!!! I'll just move the cookies and climb up there!"

(Duh Mom!)

Dylin just came in and said, "I am not tired!!! I have lots of faults!" (wrong
description but...)
She said, "first Uh-ball (of all) I am hungry, thirsty, need a piece of white
chocolate, wanna get on computer, need to watch tv, or play with uncle Bob."
"Soooo mom what's your choice, huh! Huh!"
I said, "none, go climb your butt in bed."
She said, "you lost that wasn't any of the ideas, guess I get to pick!"
